The Story of Prehnite
Born in the veins of the Earth, prehnite emerges through the volcanic rock that surrounds it as a glowing greenish orb of light. Appearance
Prehnite is normally found in a pale, yellowish green, but can also veer into a more vibrant, minty, or darker green, or be yellow, grey, or clear. It’s translucent, with a waxy or milky luster that catches the light and seems to glow from within. It can grow in globular or botryoidal forms, which are bulbous, bubble, or grape-like shaped formations, or as stalactites or massive clusters.
Its yellow-green glow aligns with the energies of positive growth and regeneration. In Taoist stone medicine, its color relates to the energies of the liver and spleen, and its darker inclusions, to the energies of the kidneys, helping boost the detoxification and digestion pathways of the body, and our internal energy and motivation to move forward in life.
Composition
Prehnite is a calcium aluminum silicate, with different impurities, often of iron, magnesium, titanium, sodium, or potassium. Calcium is soothing, pacifying, and strengthening, and aluminum clears heat and settles the nerves. These minerals contribute to the physical and metaphysical effects that prehnite has on the body, mind, and emotions.
Prehnite often intergrows with epidote, which adds strength and grounding to its frequency. It has an orthorombic crystal structure, which consolidates energy, drawing your vital force back into your lower body where it’s stored. Physical Healing

Care + Cleansing for Prehnite
The best way to cleanse prehnite is by using the element of the Earth. You don’t want to leave it out in the sunlight for too long, though, or it can become damaged, so if you place it outdoors, leave it to rest on the grass, soil, a rock, or the root of a tree at dusk and overnight under the starry skies.
You can also bury it in the Earth overnight for a deep release and cleansing. If you don’t have a safe spot to place it outdoors, you can put it in the soil of a houseplant overnight instead.
You can also do a quick, periodic cleanse of prehnite by placing it under cool running water for a few minutes, and then patting it dry. Do not let it sit immersed in water, or it can damage its luster. You can then recharge its energy by placing it on a clear quartz cluster.
