As the Sun enters Cancer, we cross the threshold of the Solstice, one of the most significant turning points of the year. For millennia, across traditions and cultures worldwide, Solstices have always been known as sacred moments, potent transitions, and times worthy of celebration and ceremony. These events mark a shift in our relationship with the Sun, which symbolizes the masculine principle, the light of consciousness, and is what makes life on Earth possible.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the Summer Solstice, also referred to as Litha or Midsummer, marks the longest day of the year, the moment in which we receive the most sunlight. As the light peaks, so do our energy levels: however, from now on the nights will get longer and the darkness will gradually take more space. Meanwhile, in the Southern Hemisphere of the globe, the Winter Solstice or Yule marks the longest, darkest night of the year. Here, we are celebrating the slow return of the light while simultaneously honoring the wisdom that can only be accessed during times of deep darkness.

On July 14, a New Moon in Cancer begins a new lunar month, one centered around renewing how we nurture ourselves and take care of our emotional needs, as well as those of the closest people in our lives. This lunation will happen in a conjunction with retrograde Mercury, and while the luminaries still square Saturn, highlighting the need to develop greater maturity in how we communicate, express, and respond to what we feel.
