Full Moon in Aries 2026: Know Thyself
On September 20, 11:11 AM —
On September 26, 2026, 12:48 PM EST, a Full Moon at 3º36’ of Aries lights up the night sky. The Full Moon in the sign of the Ram encourages us to choose ourselves without guilt. It asks us to become aware of all the ways we are tempted to abandon ourselves, sacrifice our needs, or compromise our truth in order to preserve connection. This is an opportunity to return to ourselves so that we can show up in relationships from a place of greater wholeness, honesty, and authenticity.
The Aries Full Moon is likely to be particularly meaningful for those of us born with personal placements in the early degrees of Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn). These people are more likely to experience significant events in their lives and relationships that ask them to be honest with themselves and clear about what they are not willing to compromise. The need to make decisions becomes impossible to ignore, as situations that have been developing for some time are likely to reach a turning point.

Full Moons: Culmination, Clarity, and Completion
Full Moons are the peak moment of the lunar month. These are times of completion and culmination: what was hidden is revealed, and clarity becomes available. As the Sun and the Moon align in a perfect opposition, a 180º angle from our perspective on Earth, the Moon’s surface is fully illuminated by sunlight. As the Moon symbolizes our unconscious, emotional world, and instinctive nature, at this time of the month we have an opportunity to gain a clearer, deeper awareness of what is moving within us.
Every Full Moon illuminates a polarity, two opposing and complementary energies in the Zodiac wheel. This month, the Aries-Libra axis comes into the spotlight: this polarity is all about the archetypal dance between self and other, me and we, independence and interdependence, freedom and connection.
As the Aries Moon opposes the Libra Sun, we are being reminded that, before we can meaningfully connect and meet the needs of others, we must know ourselves and be committed to honoring our needs and desires. If we are not connected to our own inner fire, if we don’t know what we want, if we are out of touch with our needs, we cannot create truly reciprocal, balanced, and honest relationships with others.
Full Moon in Aries: Honoring Our Truth
Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac wheel: it represents the impulse to begin, initiate, act, and move forward. It is connected to the instinct that allows the baby to begin the process of birth and eventually emerge into the world as a separate being after the umbilical cord is cut. Aries energy is instinctive, direct, individualistic, and immediate. When the Moon is here, emotions feel burning, urgent, and require immediate action and movement.
Aries teaches us to be who we are, trust our instincts, and have the courage to act from our own truth. Libra instead teaches us to take others’ needs and desires into account, to remain receptive to what is happening to them and how our actions impact them. Neither one exists in isolation from the other: we cannot build relationships without a sense of who we are as individuals, and we cannot learn who we are without any encounters and exchanges with others.
The Aries Full Moon offers us an opportunity to find new ways to balance honoring our own needs and desires and nurturing our relationships with others. During the Sun’s journey through Libra, a time of the year especially focused on navigating all kinds of interpersonal dynamics, we are being reminded that if we don’t have a healthy relationship with ourselves, we can’t have healthy relationships with others.
Full Moon conjunct Neptune and Saturn
Tightly conjunct Neptune and, more widely, Saturn, this Full Moon can bring complex, complicated emotions to the surface. Neptune’s close conjunction with the Moon and opposition to the Sun highlights issues of boundaries, offering us an opportunity to notice where we feel tempted to sacrifice too much, overgive, and lack discernment.
The challenge for us these days is to distinguish between what we feel and what others feel, what is our responsibility and what isn’t, what is reality and what is illusion. With Neptune so close to the Moon, we will be exceptionally sensitive to everything around us, feeling like an emotional sponge. This alignment magnifies our susceptibility, making us more prone to emotional and psychic overwhelm.
Saturn’s activation, instead, can bring up old defense mechanisms and protective strategies that once protected us, yet are no longer necessary. Saturn’s wide conjunction with the Moon and opposition to the Sun asks us to learn to contain our emotions without repressing them, to express them maturely rather than shutting them down. The Moon-Saturn conjunction invites us to develop the capacity to stay present with complicated emotions without letting them overwhelm us, and build stronger inner stability.
Full Moon sextile Pluto and Uranus
The Moon and Neptune in Aries are sextile both Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini, which trine the Sun in Libra. These aspects, together with the Sun-Moon-Neptune opposition, form what is technically known as a Kite pattern. The Kite allows us to channel the tension of the opposition productively, through the sextiles and trines.
All the transpersonal planets are activated by this configuration, which links personal matters to a larger collective evolutionary journey. Relationship paradigms are evolving in ways that transcend individual issues: everyone on Earth is feeling this shift. Many of the problems we are facing in our personal relationships are connected to a larger evolutionary process, one that asks us to leave behind outdated, hierarchical ways of connecting, collaborating, and exchanging energy, and dare to imagine and create relationships based on true reciprocity and greater authenticity.
This Kite is putting this process into the spotlight and giving it direction. The invitation for us is to become aware of the deeper power dynamics within our relationships and communities, experiment with new ways of relating and communicating, and open our imagination to possibilities we may not yet be able to clearly define or articulate with language.
Full Moon trine Mars, Mars square Chiron
The Full Moon in Aries is also forming an out-of-sign trine to her ruler Mars, currently at 29º of Cancer. The trine to Mars supports our ability to act in a way that allows us to have our needs met. Mars is at the end of his journey through Cancer, during which he invited us to deepen our emotional self-knowledge. As we have had chances to grow in self-awareness during the past weeks, we have hopefully accessed a clearer understanding of our needs and desires, and we can now act in alignment with them.
However, Mars is squaring retrograde Chiron at 29º of Aries. This square can trigger old wounds and sensitivities that impact our ability to take action confidently and trust ourselves, our instinct, and the validity of our emotions. The final Mars-Chiron square in Cancer and Aries can offer us a final opportunity to take care of insecurities and fears that have prevented us from taking space, taking risks, and feeling we have the right to exist.
This aspect brings us back to the question of how past experiences are still shaping our relationship to courage, self-trust, self-assertion, risk-taking, desire, and action. Rather than allowing old wounds to keep dictating our choices, we are being asked to recognize that we no longer need to protect ourselves in the way we once did.
Full Moon in Aries: Choosing Ourselves
The Full Moon in Aries reminds us that, to create true balance and harmony in our relationships, we must first choose ourselves and make sure we are living in alignment with our individual needs and desires. If we are not in the picture, if we aren’t even a character in the story, how can we even think of experiencing a sustainable, honest, and reciprocal connection with another?
This Full Moon may show us where we have been losing ourselves, abandoning ourselves, or disappearing within a relationship, and ask us to make necessary changes. It is likely to reveal where we need to assert ourselves, set different boundaries, or say no to certain conditions, experiences, or treatment. If we have been neglecting ourselves in exchange for relationship, companionship, and connection, this Aries Full Moon can help us see the cost of those compromises. This event reminds us that genuinely healthy relationships don’t ask us to disappear or make ourselves smaller, and that we can love and care deeply for another without ever abandoning ourselves in the process.
