Saturn in Aries: Taking Full Responsibility for Our Actions
Named after the Lord of Time and Karma, Saturn in Astrology rules the boundaries of the world of form, the 3D reality. The traditional ruler of both Capricorn and Aquarius, Saturn governs our personal and collective maturation cycles and challenges us to take full responsibility for our lives and our choices.
This planet is connected to the past, to tradition, to the passing of time, and to the way we have been programmed to behave by society, family, and culture. Nevertheless, Saturn is also associated with our ability to connect with our inner authority and embody it fully in the outer world. Saturn teaches us that our actions have consequences, that we reap what we sow.
The Lord of Time made his second and final ingress into Aries on February 13, 2026, and crossed Neptune shortly after at 0º45’ of the sign. The Saturn-Neptune conjunction we experienced just a few months ago inaugurated a new chapter of collective growth, healing, and maturation. This alignment asked us to plant the seeds of a new vision and take consistent action on it, challenging us to commit to doing what is necessary to materialize our dreams into reality.
Saturn has since continued his journey through Aries, moving away from Neptune, while encouraging us to develop self-mastery and take full responsibility for our actions. In the sign of the Ram, the Lord of Time asks us to face insecurities that prevent us from fully embracing our power and from embodying Yang, masculine energy. This transit is challenging us to develop more courage by learning to relate differently to our fears. It is inspiring us to use our anger as fuel to go after what we desire, rather than repressing it or expressing it destructively.
Saturn retrograde: Reassessing Commitments and Responsibilities
Retrogrades consist of the apparent backward motion of a planet from our perspective on Earth. Despite being optical illusions from an astronomical perspective, these events carry strong symbolic meaning according to Astrology. Retrogrades are invitations to turn our attention inward and reconsider the direction we are moving toward before taking the next step.
As a planet gradually appears to slow down until coming to a standstill and starting to move backward, we are being asked to pause, stop following the inertia, and reflect on what we are doing and why, instead of acting on autopilot. For this reason, retrogrades have the potential to accelerate our individuation process and help us gain deeper insights into ourselves, our needs, our intentions, and our purpose.
When Saturn is in apparent backward motion, we have an opportunity to reassess and restructure our commitments, boundaries, and the very structure of our lives. Saturn retrograde periods are a time to reflect on our relationship to responsibility and go through a process of maturation that is not immediately visible from the outside. Rather than pushing forward, this transit invites us to come back into alignment and evaluate what is sustainable for the long-term, what we want to keep investing in, and what requires adjustment.
