On May 23, 11:11 AM —

On May 24, 2025, 11:36 PM EST, Saturn leaves Pisces and makes his first ingress into Aries. Saturn remains in Aries until September 1, and retrogrades back into Pisces until February 13, 2026. As Saturn begins his journey through Aries, we collectively embark on a path to self-mastery: we are being asked to take greater responsibility for ourselves and our choices and to cultivate resilience and perseverance.

Saturn’s ingress into Aries is very significant for people with natal placements in Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) and especially for those with natal Saturn in Aries. Those born between 1996 and 1999 are about to experience their first Saturn return, while individuals born between 1967 and 1969 or between 1937 and 1940 will experience, respectively, their second and third Saturn return.

The individuals personally impacted by Saturn’s shift of sign are entering a new chapter of their personal and spiritual maturation process. They are being asked to develop a deeper awareness of the consequences of their actions and take full responsibility for themselves.

Saturn: Wise, Elder Teacher

Named after the mythological God of Time, Saturn is the last planet we can see with the naked eye and marked the perceived boundary of the Solar System for a very long time.

In Astrology, Saturn symbolizes the structures that contain and shape our lives and the world. This is the planet connected with social rules and norms, the obligations we must meet, and the way we are conditioned and programmed to behave from society, family, and culture. Saturn represents both external authorities (such as governments, institutions, and parental figures) and our inner sense of authority, that determines our conscience and moral compass.

In traditional Astrology, Saturn gained a bad reputation and his transits often tend to be feared. However, Saturn is not a harsh punisher but rather a wise, elder teacher who always rewards sincere efforts, resilience, and commitment to growth.

Saturn teaches us to take responsibility for our actions and to accept their consequences. This planet is connected with both our fears and insecurities and with our capacity to commit, persevere, and work hard enough to develop true mastery over ourselves and specific areas of life. Through Saturn’s lessons, we are challenged to cultivate discipline, patience, and integrity, which ultimately allow us to develop self-respect.

The planet’s rings are a visible reminder of Saturn’s connection to limits and boundaries. Saturn represents our encounter with the constraints that define our existence on the material plane and the journey of learning how to work and grow within them. Saturn’s lessons can feel restrictive or heavy, yet they are ultimately meant to help us build strength, endurance, and wisdom.

Saturn from Pisces to Aries: A Brand New Evolutionary Cycle

Saturn needs 29.5 years to travel through the entire Zodiac and spends approximately 2.5 years in each sign. His first ingress into Pisces was on March 7, 2023. Since then, the Lord of Time has been leading us on a journey of emotional and spiritual maturation.

While traveling through Pisces, the last sign of the Zodiac, Saturn encouraged us to close old cycles and allow structures that are not aligned with Truth to dissolve. In Pisces, Saturn challenged us to find ways to live in alignment with spiritual values and virtues without neglecting the practical realities and responsibilities of human life in the 3D world.

This transit offered us opportunities to mature by addressing the emotional wounds and mental health challenges underlying addictive, avoidant, and escapist behaviors, while emphasizing the risks of spiritual naivety and spiritual bypass. Ultimately, Saturn in Pisces reminded us to keep our feet on the Earth as we walk our spiritual path, and helped liberate us from illusions and delusions we mistook for Truth.

As Saturn leaves Pisces and enters Aries, we experience a powerful energetic shift and begin a brand new cycle of growth. During his time in Aries, the first sign of the Zodiac, Saturn will emphasize the need to take responsibility for our actions, develop more discipline, and learn to discern when it is appropriate to initiate, act, or respond instinctively and when, instead, patience and time are required before making a decision.

Saturn in Aries: Path to Self-Mastery

Aries is impulsive, instinctual, quick, and meant to initiate, act, and fight, while Saturn is slow, cautious, thoughtful, and meant to consolidate, crystallize, and contain. This transit can be connected with the feeling of having one foot on the gas and one on the brake, with the sensation of trying to move forward and simultaneously holding ourselves back, more or less unconsciously.

Saturn is traditionally considered to be in fall in Aries, as he is exalted in the opposite sign, Libra. Planets in fall or detriment are uncomfortable in the sign where they are transiting, which challenges us to find creative ways to reconcile their energies and ultimately offer us the opportunity to deepen our understanding of and our relationship with the planet itself.

Saturn in Aries will bring our attention to our relationship with fighting for what we desire, honoring what we desire, and trusting our desires. This transit will ask us to develop a more mature relationship with conflict and confrontation, and gain a deeper understanding of the difference between power and force.

Developing a more Intentional Relationship with our Will

In Aries, Saturn will challenge us to develop a more mature relationship with anger, frustration, and the inevitable limitations and obstacles we encounter in life. This transit will challenge us to cultivate determination and be willing to persevere despite setbacks. During this time, we are being asked to practice channeling our will intentionally, staying consistent and committed to the pursuit of what we desire. We are being asked to be willing to make the necessary sacrifices to build the life we aspire to have, and to remain committed to following the path that calls us.

The upcoming two and a half years are an opportunity to explore our relationship with self-assertion and willpower, to observe how we pursue or hesitate to pursue what we want, how we protect ourselves when we feel attacked and how we react when we feel our vulnerabilities are exposed.

Saturn in Aries is an opportunity to restructure, redefine, and renew our relationship with masculine energy, regardless of our gender, to learn to believe in ourselves, and to question our existing beliefs about selfishness and putting ourselves first.

This transit will also highlight and magnify any disconnection from instinct, any tendency to suppress our natural impulses to act and initiate. Saturn in Aries can also bring our attention toward ways we overcompensate for our insecurities and perceived weaknesses that result in an over-use of force and aggression to the point of becoming self-punishing or tyrannical toward others.

The Saturn-Neptune Balsamic Phase Conjunction

We can’t interpret Saturn’s ingress into Aries without considering that Neptune just entered Aries too and is now placed at 1º43’ of the sign. The two planets are going to be conjunct for the rest of the calendar year: between the end of May and the beginning of September, they are going to be less than 1º from one another. However, they won’t perfect their conjunction until February 20, 2026, at 0º of Aries. Until then, they will be in what is technically referred to as the Balsamic phase of their cycle, the closing part of the cycle that began with their last conjunction in November 1989.

The Saturn-Neptune Balsamic phase conjunction, active for the entirety of 2025, represents a time of dissolution of structures and systems that no longer hold significance, that no longer have a relevant purpose. As long as we experience this alignment, even if the planets are in bold and action-oriented Aries, there remains a strong focus on closing cycles, ending chapters, and navigating transitions, liminality, and uncertainty with grace.

As long as Saturn travels together with Neptune, we are being challenged to learn when discipline is necessary and when instead surrendering to the flow is required. Neptune and Saturn moving together through the heavens are asking us to harmonize our relationship with both the material and the spiritual realms. This conjunction is an opportunity to refine our ability to discern when something is coming to an end, has lost its purpose, or has no longer meaning, and it is time to let it go.
