We are in the midst of Eclipse season: the intensity is palpable, tension is growing, we all feel the pressure, it’s impossible to ignore it.
We are now experiencing the second of the three Eclipses happening within a month. The Solar Eclipse in Cancer of June 21 follows the Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius of June 5 and precedes the Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn of July 5.
On June 21 a rare Annular Solar Eclipse is taking place: it will last approximately six hours. The Moon, transiting between the Earth and the Sun, will cover the Sun completely: when their alignment becomes perfect, only a ring of fire will be visible from our perspective.
People living in parts of Asia and Africa will be lucky enough to be able to observe this cosmic phenomenon, which should never be watched with the naked eye.
The Timeless Power of Eclipses
Eclipses are gateways of change: ancient peoples considered them strong omens, they equally feared and revered them. They believed that, during Eclipse season, portals to other dimensions open: the veil between worlds becomes thinner, traveling to other planes becomes easier, transformation can be fast and radical.
Eclipses have been associated with several historical events impossible to forget. In this period of the year, we can easily feel like everything happens too quickly to grasp its meaning immediately. The energy can be overwhelming if we don’t know how to ground it.
We need more time than usual to integrate and digest what’s going on, and this may generate the sensation that we have no control over events: remember all is temporary, everything will pass. This is not the best time to make fixed plans: better to live the day and adapt to what happens.
When Eclipse season will be over, we are going to have time to think about what we have been through, what has shifted. During these weeks, when the energy is stronger, it is crucial to give ourselves extra time to relax. Taking care of our feelings and emotions becomes key as we enter the realms of the watery Cancer.
Solar Eclipse on the Solstice Point: a Collective Initiation
Sun and Moon transit over the North Node at 29° Gemini and immediately enter Cancer. The Eclipse happens exactly on the Solstice Point: this makes it even more relevant for us.
0° Cancer is a special degree in the Zodiac, as it marks the beginning of Summer (in the Northern hemisphere) or Winter (in the Southern hemisphere). For this reason, it represents a collective rite of passage, a moment of evolution for humanity as a whole.
It is said that what happens during the day of the Solstice dictates the energy of the following three months. The effects of an Eclipse, on the other hand, are believed to last up to six months.
This cosmic event is so significant that it could set the tone for the rest of the year. If we use its energy wisely, it can offer us amazing opportunities for growth.
Solar Eclipse on the North Node: Discovering Our Evolutionary Path
The Eclipse is happening on the North Node of the Moon, at 29° Gemini. This point in space symbolizes the direction we are encouraged to go towards in order to evolve, both individually and as a species. The Lunar Nodes change sign only every year and a half, and this is the very first Eclipse on the North Node since it shifted from Cancer to Gemini.
Once a year, when the Sun crosses the North Node, it reminds us not to waste our potential. The Moon transits there once a month, showing us that diving deep and fearlessly into our emotional depths is necessary for growth.
As soon as the Sun and the Moon pass over the North Node, they form a conjunction in the Cancerian waters. The Moon then obscures the Sun for a few hours, bringing our attention to the importance of living emotions with conscious awareness.
Mercury, the planetary ruler of the North Node in Gemini, has shifted retrograde in the sign of Cancer on June 18th. Its influence reminds us of the power of compassionate communication. Mercury will support us in processing and integrating the emotions coming up during the following days, inviting us to be kind to ourselves and each other.
An Unexpected Change of Direction
A Solar Eclipse is a supercharged New Moon: it represents a brand new beginning, a huge turning point for humanity as a whole, and each of us as an individual.
After embarking on a quest for knowledge throughout Gemini season, we are now asked to slow down and connect to our inner wisdom. We are encouraged to find what we seek within ourselves and shut down all external noises.
These days are very emotionally charged: the planets in Cancer remind us to go within and give space to our feelings.
This is the best moment of the year you can take advantage of if you want to radically transform your reality. Many people, during the time spent at home, realized they are not happy with the life they are living, but they are not sure about how to change it.
You can use this energy to manifest whatever you dream of: set a clear intention for the future and start actively working towards it, one step at a time. To help you fully harness this extremely powerful energy we have created a channeled Guided New Moon Solar Eclipse Meditation Audio & Super Deep & Powerful Self-Reflection Journal (we call it: Reclaiming The Feminine Wisdom). One essential part of the process of conscious manifestation, often forgotten, is the importance of feeling the sensations that reaching your goals would provoke. This New Moon Solar Eclipse in Cancer reminds us to align thoughts, desires, and emotions towards the direction we want to take.
An Emotional Paradox
There is an inherent paradox in the Cancer archetype: on the one hand, being a Cardinal sign, its function is beginning a new process, initiating something that has never been done before. On the other hand, the natural tendency of Cancer is seeking security, comfort and familiarity.
Many of us have been experiencing a contrast between two opposite desires. We have the possibility to stay in our comfort zone. Even if the conditions are not ideal, this choice provides us the feeling of safety and security we naturally long for.
On the contrary, we know that doing something completely different may make us happier, but there is no guarantee to achieve the result we expect. This choice may also imply the risk of losing what we currently have, hence causing some sort of insecurity.
The hesitation to let go of what makes us feel safe is something many of us face when we try to manifest a different life. Holding on to what provides security prevents us from creating the space necessary for something new to emerge.
It is not easy at all: we all have conscious and unconscious emotional attachments to our current situation, whether we like it or not. Knowing what to expect makes us feel safe, which is a basic human need: this is why the period of uncertainty we are living can be so hard to deal with.
The medicine to overcome this emotional paradox may be developing a different perspective on change. Instead of just fearing the loss of what we know, we could think about it as a necessary step that allows better, more exciting opportunities to manifest in our lives.
Solar Eclipse in Cancer: Finding Security Within
With everything that’s going on in the world lately it can be hard to trust the Universe and feel Life is protecting us lately. It can be hard to believe we are safe and taken care of when everything seems to suggest otherwise. It can be hard to believe that all is always well, when we hear about what’s happening in the world right now.
Yet, we still have the opportunity to connect with an inner feeling of security independent of external events, and we can inspire the people around us to join us into that space. Once we manage to generate a feeling of safety within ourselves, we will automatically inspire others to do the same.
Together we can build communities based on caring for one another, empathically listening to one another, understanding one another. Now more than ever we need to promote nurturance, unity, and closeness, and to work towards making the world a safe place for everyone, but it all starts within.
