On October 13, 01:37 AM —

On October 21, 2025, 08:24 AM EST, a New Moon at 28º21′ of Libra closes the Eclipse portal and begins a lunar cycle focused on healing relational wounds and restoring harmony within ourselves and in our connections with others. This event asks us to explore new ways of relating and offers us an opportunity to gain a new understanding of the nature of the relationship patterns that manifest in our lives.

The Libra New Moon is particularly significant for people born with natal placements in Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn). This event is more likely to bring new people into their lives or fuel significant new beginnings in their existing connections. They will have opportunities to access new insights about their relationships and make important changes in how they show up within them.

We invite you to watch our energy update on our YouTube channel together with Nina where she walks us through the powerful energies of this New Moon Libra.

New Moon in Libra: Restoring Harmony

As Libra season comes to an end, the Sun and the Moon meet in the late degrees of the sign of the Scales. Before Scorpio season begins, this New Moon brings fresh energy into our social and romantic lives and invites us to discover new ways of connecting with others.

New Moons always mark new beginnings and ask us to plant seeds and set intentions for the future. This New Moon is particularly significant since it is the first New Moon that is not an Eclipse since Eclipse season started. For this reason, the Libra New Moon officially closes the Eclipse portal. We now move on to a new chapter while continuing to integrate the experiences we had during Eclipses.

In Libra, a New Moon brings renewal and fresh starts into our relationships and invites us to explore new ways of relating, connecting, and collaborating. The focus is on restoring reciprocity, cooperation, and harmony. Throughout the upcoming lunar month, we will have opportunities to learn to honor both our needs and those of others without losing touch with ourselves in the process. This lunation encourages us to cultivate harmony not by avoiding conflict, but by showing up honestly, listening carefully, and making an effort to find the real middle ground.

New Moon opposite Chiron: Deepening our Healing Journey

The Libra New Moon is tightly opposing Chiron, in retrograde motion in the late degrees of Aries. This opposition offers us an opportunity to gain clearer awareness of how past pain continues to impact the way we show up in relationships, the choices we make, and the people we attract and feel attracted to.

Chiron was named after the mythological wounded healer and teacher. In Astrology, this celestial body is connected to feelings of rejection, vulnerability, and wounds that periodically open throughout our lifetime. Ultimately, Chiron teaches us that our wounds contain our medicine, and that only by facing, feeling, and embracing our pain can we access the wisdom that comes from it.

This New Moon may bring the spotlight to old stories of abandonment, rejection, or betrayal, showing us how these unhealed places still shape the way we relate. Around this time, we may recognize where we unconsciously recreate old dynamics as a way to try to heal what once hurt us.

In Aries, Chiron highlights wounds that affect our ability to assert ourselves, be independent, follow our own path, express our anger, be decisive, and trust ourselves and our instincts. The invitation for us at this time is to meet our pain with tenderness and care, soften our defenses, and come to a place of greater self-acceptance and self-compassion.

New Moon square Jupiter and Pluto

The Sun and the New Moon in Libra are also squaring both Jupiter in the late degrees of Cancer and retrograde Pluto in the early degrees of Aquarius.

The square to Pluto intensifies the emotional charge of this lunation, potentially exposing power plays and covert control dynamics. This aspect asks us to become aware of unconscious needs, desires, and compulsions that drive us from behind the scenes and challenges us to transform the way we relate to our and others’ emotions in order to shift long-standing relationship patterns. We are being asked to show up in relationships from a place of truth rather than fear, and to recognize the depletion that derives from the shadow dance between our and others’ wounded parts.

Jupiter’s activation reminds us to reflect on whether our generosity may be based on ulterior motives and asks us to make sure we are giving from a well resourced place. This square invites us to observe how we may try to earn love or validation through over-giving and encourages us to cultivate truly honest, reciprocal, and nourishing relationships.

The Libra New Moon is part of a Yod with Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus

The Libra New Moon is part of a Yod that involves Saturn in Pisces, Neptune in Aries, and Uranus in Gemini, all quincunx the Sun and Moon. This rare and fated configuration, also referred to as the “Finger of God”, directs our attention toward the Libra New Moon as the point of greatest stress and potential transformation.

Quincunxes are aspects of paradox that challenge us to reconcile seemingly contradictory and incompatible needs. Saturn’s activation can bring up guilt and obligation and the feeling that we can’t meet our needs or invest in our joy if we honor our responsibilities. The quincunx to Neptune can bring up themes of sacrifice and non-reciprocal exchanges. Around this time, we may feel tempted to let go of our boundaries, over-give, or lose ourselves in the needs and expectations of others. Meanwhile, Uranus’s activation can fuel a sense of restlessness and inner tension that we don’t know how to resolve. We feel that something needs to radically shift, but can’t yet point out what exactly.

Moreover, Chiron is opposing the Sun and the Moon, creating what is known as a Boomerang Yod. This opposition helps us find an outlet for the tension we are experiencing: we are being asked to bring our focus toward our healing journey and recognize how our unhealed wounds are perpetuating cycles of suffering.

With the Sun and Moon in Libra as the focal point of two quincunxes, we are being asked to become aware of the ways we may sacrifice our authenticity for the sake of a false sense of connection, or whether our pursuit of freedom and independence may prevent deeper intimacy to form. Whatever side of the pendulum we are drawn to gravitate toward, we are being asked to move toward greater balance.

Venus is in Libra, separating from an opposition to Neptune

As the New Moon in Libra peaks, Libra’s ruler Venus is also in Libra, separating from an opposition to Neptune in the early degrees of Aries. Since she is the ruler of the New Moon, studying Venus’s condition helps us understand the meaning of this event and the themes that will be unfolding during the upcoming lunar cycle.

For the past few days, the Venus-Neptune opposition has clouded our perception and our ability to discern what is real from what is imagined. The challenge for us has been to liberate ourselves from illusions and fantasies that prevent us from seeing clearly the people we are relating with.

This alignment is asking us to recognize in what ways we tend to project our dreams and fantasies onto others, take back our projections, and accept reality for what it is, accept other people for how they are, and choose how to relate to them from that place.

New Moon in Libra: Stepping into Conscious Relating

During the upcoming lunar month, we have an opportunity to address imbalances in our lives and relationships and restore true harmony, peace, and balance. This is a time to recognize where giving and receiving are out of alignment and take responsibility for our part in co-creating the dynamics we are participating in.

The Libra New Moon is an invitation to cultivate fairness, kindness, and mutual respect, keeping in mind that this is not about suppressing our needs or avoiding conflict, but rather about creating space for more honest dialogue and authentic connection. This event can open doors to profound relational healing, empowering us to release patterns of control, fear, or avoidance, and to step into more conscious ways of relating.
