On June 23, 08:08 AM —

On June 25, 06:31 AM EST, a New Moon at 4º07’ of Cancer invites us to honor our emotional truth, encouraging us to keep our hearts open and come home to the present moment.

The Cancer New Moon is especially significant for people born with personal placements in the early degrees of Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn). The individuals personally impacted by this New Moon are being asked to discover new ways of relating with their emotions, their past, and their sensitivity. They have an opportunity to deepen their relationship with themselves and their inner world and connect with a feeling of safety and security that doesn’t depend on anything external.

We invite you to watch our hour long video on our YouTube channel together with Nina where she walks us through the powerful energies of this New Moon in Cancer.

New Moon in Cancer: No Place Like Home

New Moons mark the beginning of the lunar cycle and represent a time to plant seeds, set clear intentions for the days ahead, and embark on a new chapter of growth. From now on, the momentum slowly begins to rise for the upcoming two weeks, until the Full Moon peaks.

At this time of the month, the Sun and the Moon meet on the same degree of the Zodiac wheel and invite us to renew our relationship with the sign that is activated by their conjunction. This month, as the luminaries meet in Cancer, we have an opportunity to embark on a journey of emotional self-discovery and explore new definitions of home, family, security, and vulnerability.

Ruled by the Moon herself, Cancer is the first water sign of the Zodiac. As a Cardinal sign, it inaugurates a new season and represents the beginning of an unfamiliar process. This sign invites us on a journey inward, a journey focused on deepening our intimacy with ourselves, our inner world, and our emotions.

Cancer has to do with our experience of home, our definition of home, our beliefs about home, and the way we create a feeling of home, family, and belonging within ourselves and all around us. This New Moon reminds us that there is no place like home and invites us to connect with the home within ourselves, to come home to our bodies, and to create an inner sanctuary where we can retreat, rest, and soften.

Becoming Safe Space

Cancer is the home to the most delicate, most vulnerable parts of us, those we might have buried deeply as children because they didn’t feel welcome or accepted, because it wasn’t safe to express them.

In a world that is constantly moving fast, this New Moon asks us to slow down and create space to honor our sensitivity, process our emotions, and digest our experiences. We are entering a lunar month centered around softening, nurturing ourselves and others, and tending to our hearts in new ways. In the upcoming weeks, we will have opportunities to refine our ability to create safe spaces and to become a safe space for ourselves and our inner child.

The Cancer New Moon invites us to develop a new relationship with our past and with our history, with the stories held in our bodies, with our cellular memory. We carry the lived experiences of our ancestors in our bones, we carry both their strengths and weaknesses, their gifts and their pain. This New Moon can bring awareness toward how our family history and ancestral patterns are impacting our lives and offer us an opportunity to relate with them in new ways.

New Moon conjunct Jupiter and sextile Mars

The Cancer New Moon takes place while the Sun and the Moon are tightly conjunct with Jupiter, square both Saturn and Neptune in Aries, and sextile Mars in Virgo.

Jupiter entered Cancer on June 9 and is guiding us on a journey of emotional growth. For the upcoming twelve months, Jupiter in Cancer will highlight the value of emotional wisdom, reminding us that, to be able to expand, we need to feel nurtured and emotionally safe. The Cancer New Moon conjunct with Jupiter amplifies our desire for Soul family, emotional intimacy, and honest connections. This configuration is an invitation to honor our emotional truth and expand our capacity to love, to nurture, to care. Jupiter’s transit through Cancer will show us how cultivating emotionally safe and nourishing connections allows us to bloom.

Mars in Virgo is sextile with the Sun, the Moon, and Jupiter. The sextiles to Mars add more dynamism and forward momentum to the upcoming days and weeks, offering us opportunities to refine our self-assertion skills and get clear about our desires, about where we are going. The activation of Mars is an invitation to make sure we are channeling our energy wisely and toward meaningful directions.

New Moon square Saturn and Neptune

While Jupiter’s presence facilitates optimism, invites faith, and supports our desire for growth and expansion, the alignment to Saturn can bring a sense of restriction, limitation, and insecurity. Saturn in Aries squaring Jupiter and the New Moon in Cancer emphasizes the tension between our need to turn inward, tend to our feelings, and nurture ourselves and others, and the necessity of developing discipline, strengthening our will, and being resilient in going after what we desire.

This configuration is an invitation to discern when to act and when to retreat, when to push forward and when to soften, rest, or pause. We have an opportunity to find a balance that is unique to us, a balance that exists within a state of constant adjustment and attunement to the present moment.

Neptune’s square to the Sun, the Moon, and Jupiter deepens our psychic and emotional sensitivity while potentially exacerbating confusion, longing, and tendencies toward idealism and blind faith. This configuration emphasizes the importance of establishing appropriate boundaries and knowing what boundaries we need to care for our hearts, to remain soft. We are being asked to create the necessary conditions to honor both our sensitivity and our responsibilities and to make sure we can take decisive action when needed.

For the rest of the year and until Saturn meets Neptune in February 2026, the balsamic phase conjunction between the two planets reminds us of the importance of knowing when it is time to hold on and when to let go, when to persevere and when to surrender, when to go against the inertia and when to flow with Life’s currents.

The Yod between the New Moon, Pluto, and Mars

The Sun, the Moon, and Jupiter in Cancer are forming a quincunx or inconjunct aspect with retrograde Pluto in Aquarius. Mars in Virgo is also quincunx with Pluto, which creates what is technically known as a Yod configuration. This aspect pattern is considered an indicator of fated events and turning points in our evolutionary journey. The Yod asks for a drastic transformation of our relationship with the planet at the apex, in this case, Pluto, which puts us under great evolutionary pressure.

Quincunxes or inconjuncts are aspects of paradox and seemingly irreconcilable tension that is not immediately apparent, but rather chronic and in the background. The quincunx between Pluto and the New Moon challenges us to discern when it is appropriate to fully trust and when to protect our energy or be more reserved, when to be emotionally open and when to remain more emotionally detached.

The Mars-Pluto quincunx reflects frustration and a build-up of intensity without resolution or discharge. During this time, we may experience strong desires that it may not be wise to act upon. We may feel contrasting urges and impulses that are hard to reconcile or require a sacrifice that causes a feeling of impotence. This aspect invites us into right relationship with desire and challenges us to practice holding, validating, and honoring our desires without necessarily acting on them.

These days, we are becoming aware that our conscious desires offer us glimpses into our unconscious desires and our Soul’s evolutionary intentions. We are learning that there is a deeper reason behind our cravings and needs, and we are being challenged to ask ourselves why we want what we think we want.

New Moon in Cancer: Inner Sanctuary

The New Moon in Cancer is an opportunity for an emotional reset, an opportunity to establish new emotional patterns and a new relationship with our inner world, with our needs, with our sensitivity. This event is an invitation to create an inner sanctuary, a space where we can retreat and replenish whenever we need. We are entering a lunar month centered around deepening our emotional self-awareness and honoring our emotional truth while learning to connect with a sense of safety in the body, a sense of security that comes from within.

The Cancer New Moon invites us to keep our hearts open, to find strength in vulnerability, and to come home to the present moment, to our feelings, to our softness. During the upcoming lunar cycle, we have an opportunity to rebuild self-trust, to redefine family and belonging on our own terms, and to open ourselves to deeper connections and intimacy.
