On October 18, 07:37 AM —

On October 26, 2026, 12:11 AM EST, a Full Moon at 2º45’ of Taurus illuminates the night sky, bringing matters of security, attachment, and self-worth into the forefront while asking us to question existing definitions of stability. This is an opportunity to reflect on where we may be confusing familiarity with safety and stability with attachment. The Full Moon in Taurus asks us to embrace the courage to let go of what has fulfilled its purpose and access a deeper sense of security, linked to our ability to stay grounded in ourselves even when everything around us is changing.

This event is particularly significant for those of us born with planets or angles in the early degrees of Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius). The Taurus Full Moon illuminates areas of their lives where they have become too invested in maintaining what is familiar, stable, or predictable. They are being asked to reflect on whether what they are holding onto is still supporting their growth and recognize where a change is necessary.

A Full Moon on the Taurus-Scorpio axis

Full Moons are the culmination point of the lunar cycle, the moment of greater intensity. As the Moon is completely illuminated by the Sun, we are being asked to let go of what has come to completion and have an opportunity to gain awareness of something previously hidden from our consciousness. Clarity becomes available as the Full Moon peaks, while emotions feel more urgent and intense.

Every Full Moon highlights two opposing and complementary signs, and this one illuminates the Taurus-Scorpio polarity. The Taurus-Scorpio axis correlates to the ongoing dance of creation and destruction: it reminds us that whatever grows will also die, that whatever blossoms now will decay at some point in the future. Taurus is connected to our personal resources, physical body, sensuality, and ability to connect with our senses and enjoy life. Scorpio, instead, is concerned with death and rebirth cycles and with all processes that require merging with another, such as sexuality, but also sharing resources and money.

While Taurus tends to preserve the known, consolidate what we started, and gravitate toward what is familiar and secure, Scorpio correlates to alchemical processes and the evolution of the Soul through lifetimes.

Both signs resist change in their unconscious expression, as they are both Fixed signs. However, Scorpio teaches us that when we resist change, transformation happens regardless, often through external events beyond our control. This polarity teaches that pain and pleasure are two sides of the same coin, that what is pleasurable today may cause pain tomorrow, and what is painful today may lead to more pleasure tomorrow.

Full Moon in Taurus: the Impact of Resisting Change

As the Taurus Moon opposes the Scorpio Sun just a few days after the beginning of Scorpio season, it catalyzes profound emotional releases, offering us an opportunity to recognize the impact of our resistance to change and the consequences of holding on to something past its natural expiration date.

In the Zodiac, Taurus is connected to the emergence of the survival instinct, as it follows Aries, corresponding to the moment of birth and our arrival into life as separate beings. Survival issues matter particularly strongly when the Moon is in the sign of the Bull, since she rules our basic needs, our instinctual emotional responses, and how we emotionally attach.

In Taurus, the Moon is traditionally considered to be exalted, which means these energies blend together naturally and enhance each other. The Moon in Taurus is drawn toward symbols of security, familiarity, and stability, and satisfying sensual and emotional needs becomes paramount with this placement.

With a Full Moon in the sign of the Bull, we are being asked to recognize what is no longer sustainable, and distinguish between what is actually a survival issue and what isn’t. The Taurus Full Moon asks us to be honest with ourselves about what is actually nourishing us and what instead we are holding onto because we are scared of losing, because we don’t yet have enough courage to let it go.

Full Moon conjunct Chiron & opposite retrograde Venus

Conjunct retrograde Chiron in Aries, opposite retrograde Venus in Libra, and square Pluto in Aquarius, this Full Moon in the sign of the Bull illuminates the parts of us longing for safety, security, and love, while at the same time fearing intimacy, exposure, and vulnerability.

The condition of retrograde Venus is particularly meaningful on this lunation, since she is the ruler of Taurus. Placed on the anaretic 29º of Libra, Venus brings relationships at center stage, emphasizing the tension between who we are as individuals and who we are in relationships, between honoring our desires and needs and creating space for another person, between independence and connection. We are at a turning point in our understanding of how we relate and the nature of the patterns that keep repeating in our relationships: the need to make radical changes is becoming increasingly hard to ignore.

With retrograde Chiron in Aries conjunct the Taurus Full Moon, old wounds connected to identity, self-trust, and autonomy may be triggered. We may find it more challenging than usual to assert our needs, take up space, share our desires, or speak our truths. However, doing so may lead to unexpectedly powerful reparative experiences.

Full Moon in a T-square to Pluto

Pluto’s square to Chiron, Venus, the Sun, and the Moon brings deep, old, and unconscious fears to the surface. Loss and change threaten our survival on a basic, primal level. Humans have come together in community from the beginning of time because we need each other to survive, and Pluto in Aquarius is bringing to the surface deep fears of being ostracized, left out, excluded from our community, fears that our reptilian brains still perceive as a survival threat.

All these planets are forming a T-square, of which Pluto is the apex, the point of greater stress. The squares to Pluto intensify our desire for control and the intensity of our feelings, attachments, and desires. We are now being asked to find out the unconscious issues that drive our choices, making it difficult for us to prioritize ourselves, open up to others, tolerate uncertainty, or let go of relationships that have fulfilled their purpose.

Retrograde Mercury is squaring Mars, Jupiter, and the Nodes

As the Full Moon peaks, retrograde Mercury in Scorpio is squaring Mars and Jupiter in Leo as well as the Lunar Nodes in Leo and Aquarius.

This configuration brings our attention to the relationship between what we think, what we believe, and the identities we have built around our beliefs and ideas. With Mercury retrograde in an introspective sign such as Scorpio, we have a potent opportunity to examine the stories we tell ourselves, the narratives we have internalized as truths, and the deeper fears, desires, and emotions that nurture them.

The squares to the planets in Leo offer us an invitation to reflect on how we relate to the need to be right, to be seen, and to be validated. It is a good moment to think of how we respond to receiving feedback, particularly feedback we perceive as negative, or what is triggered in us when someone challenges our perspective.

As Mercury is squaring the Nodes, we may come across information or have conversations that have an unexpectedly significant impact on our lives, and change its trajectory in meaningful ways. This is also an opportunity to pay particular attention to where we may feel tempted to lie, deceive, omit important details, or keep things hidden, and examine why.

Full Moon in Taurus: the Courage to Let Go

The Full Moon in Taurus is asking us to discover what we really need to feel secure, and how much of that security we are trying to get through our relationships. It is an invitation to explore how we can feel secure within ourselves even when our life and relationships are changing, accepting that we don’t have control over most of our external circumstances or over what other people are doing.

This Full Moon asks us whether what we are trying to preserve and holding on to is truly helping us grow, is truly life-giving, or if we are just scared to experience the emptiness and uncertainty that would come with losing it. It is an interesting time to reflect on how we relate to not knowing, not forcing, and not controlling outcomes, and to contemplate the difference between preserving life and preserving a structure that is familiar to us but may be limiting life.

The Taurus Full Moon doesn’t ask us to abandon our need for stability, but rather to connect with a kind of stability that supports growth. When we develop a sense of security rooted in self-trust, in the awareness of our resilience, and in our ability to adapt to change, we more easily access the courage to let go of what has run its course.
