On August 20, 07:33 AM —

On August 23, 02:06 AM EST, a New Moon at 0º22’ of Virgo occurs, offering us a potent opportunity to revolutionize our reality. Despite not being an Eclipse, this New Moon opens the Eclipse portal as it inaugurates a lunar cycle that will peak on September 7, with a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces.

Moreover, on September 21, we are going to have another New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Virgo, happening at 28º59’ of the sign. Eclipse season is approaching, and the current New Moon opens a portal to a time of accelerated change, profound personal and collective transformations, and once-in-a-lifetime evolutionary opportunities. It is up to us to make the most of it.

The Virgo New Moon is especially significant for people born with personal placements in the early degrees of Mutable signs and the late degrees of Fixed signs. This event is offering them a potent invitation to make significant changes in their daily lives, habits, work, and routines. They are being asked to set clear, practical intentions, commit to taking action on them, and revolutionize their reality from the inside out.

We invite you to watch our hour long video on our YouTube channel together with Nina where she walks us through the powerful energies of this New Moon in Virgo.

New Moon at 0º of Virgo: A Brand New Chapter

Just a few hours after Virgo season began, a New Moon at the potent 0º of the sign takes place. Every New Moon carries the energy of new beginnings, bringing a wave of renewal and fresh opportunities into our lives. These events mark the start of the lunar month: they offer us an invitation to set intentions for the future and plant the seeds of what we aspire to manifest.

When a New Moon is happening on the 0º degree of a sign, the energy of renewal is magnified. 0 is a number associated with the emergence of something not yet defined. It represents a threshold, a liminal space between what has been and what is just beginning to unfold. 0 is about pure potential: it is holding all possibilities and none at the same time, it is the liminal space before form takes shape, before any action is taken.

A New Moon at 0º of a sign is connected to the feeling that we are standing at the edge of a new chapter, of a new reality, of a new world. The invitation for us at this time, particularly considering that Eclipse season is approaching, is to step into the unknown with faith, even though we have no certainty about what the future will bring.

New Moon in Virgo: Devoting Ourselves to What Matters

When a planet is placed at 0º of a sign, we experience its rawest, unfiltered, instinctive expression. We are just starting our journey through that sign: our learning process has to go through a phase of trial and error and requires both curiosity and humility.

The upcoming lunar cycle will be centered around renewing, deepening, and rediscovering our relationship with the Virgo archetype. We are entering a month focused on bringing the spiritual down to earth and approaching our mundane commitments as a practice, anchoring the Spirit into the body, and treating our body as a temple.

This New Moon reminds us that it is okay to begin something without having it all figured out: we should allow ourselves to embark on a new journey and not expect to get it all right from the start. We are being asked to embrace our imperfections and relate to ourselves as a work in progress, to commit to the path of refining, adjusting, practicing, and devoting ourselves to what matters. On this New Moon, we are invited to meet and love ourselves exactly where we are.

Sun and Moon square Uranus: Revolutionize Reality

The Sun and the New Moon in Virgo are squaring Uranus in Gemini. This is the first time a Sun-Uranus square occurs since Uranus entered the sign of the Twins. Uranus is the planet of sudden changes, innovation, and rebellion from the old. Together with the upcoming Eclipse season, Uranus’ prominence underlines the fact that we are entering a time of accelerated transformation, both collectively and individually.

Uranus squaring this New Moon in Virgo invites us to revolutionize our daily lives and routines: this configuration encourages us to experiment, innovate, and trust in unconventional approaches to health, healing, work, and service. This is a time to question outdated beliefs about what “being productive” or “healthy” truly means, and to embrace flexibility over rigidity. While Virgo’s energy needs order and precision, Uranus demands freedom and originality. Our challenge is to find a new way to balance structure and spontaneity, to support our well-being without sacrificing our need for freedom, innovation, and change.

Squares are aspects of tension and friction. Around this time, we have an opportunity to become aware of how an overactive, restless mind, craving constant stimulation and flooded with endless information, can disrupt both our emotional balance and physical well-being. We may find ourselves scattered, overwhelmed, or unable to slow down enough to truly listen to what our bodies need and care for ourselves. As the Virgo New Moon occurs, we are being asked to explore new ways of taking care of ourselves, restore our ability to focus on what is meaningful in the moment, and choose to prioritize what truly matters.

New Moon in Virgo 2025

The New Moon is forming a Yod with Pluto, Saturn, and Neptune

The Sun and the New Moon in Virgo are forming a Yod configuration as they are currently in a quincunx aspect with both Pluto in Aquarius and Saturn and Neptune in Aries. Yods are aspect patterns consisting of one or more planet quincunx or inconjunct two or more planets that are sextile to one another. Also known as the “Finger of God”, this is a rare and special configuration that highlights the fated and karmic nature of this New Moon and the upcoming lunar cycle.

Quincunxes are 150º aspects that connect planets transiting signs that belong to different polarities, modalities, and elements: in this case, Virgo and Aries and Virgo and Aquarius. These signs have contrasting needs, desires, and ways of moving through life. They speak different languages and don’t understand each other. However, they don’t openly fight as they would in a square or an opposition. For this reason, quincunxes reflect a kind of stress that tends to be chronic and mostly in the background. They require us to have a relationship with paradox and nuance and avoid black and white thinking.

This Yod is bringing our attention to how different parts of our psyche are communicating and relating to each other. It invites us to observe whether we tend to align with one side while suppressing, denying, or disowning the other, relegating certain needs and desires to the shadows, or unconsciously projecting them onto others.

When a Yod occurs, the sextile that links the planets activated by the quincunxes offers us a way to harmonize contrasting energies and creatively integrate conflicting needs. This connection increases the potential of breakthroughs and pushes us to find new solutions to recurrent problems.

The planet or planets at the apex of the Yod, in this case, the Sun and the Moon, are under the greatest stress. This emphasizes the relevance of the upcoming lunar cycle, which is likely to ask us to discover radically new ways of adapting and balancing seemingly incompatible needs, desires, and obligations. Difficult adjustments may be necessary, and give us an opportunity to use discomfort as a catalyst for transformation.

Mercury sextile Mars and Jupiter square Mars

Mercury is the ruler of the Virgo New Moon and studying his condition helps us gain more insight into the energy of this event. The Messenger is now in Leo and approaching the completion of the post-shadow phase of his recent retrograde. This means that we are still integrating the insights, revelations, and clarifications that came up during and after Mercury’s retrograde journey. We are tying up loose ends, reviewing recent events, and preparing to make decisions with more clarity and confidence.

Mercury in Leo reminds us of the importance of heart-centered communication, of expressing ourselves boldly and authentically. The Messenger is forming a sextile with Mars in Libra, which supports diplomatic self-assertion and invites us to explore a kind yet direct style of communication. This alignment emphasizes the need to say what’s on our mind, express our desires, and share our truth with sensitivity and awareness of other people’s reality.

These days and in the upcoming lunar cycle, we will have opportunities to notice where we might still be silencing ourselves to keep the peace or where we might be over-explaining to gain external approval or validation. The Virgo New Moon begins a lunar month filled with changes and growth opportunities, and brings us an invitation to revolutionize the way we think, live, and perceive reality, let go of outdated patterns, and embrace a more intentional way of being.

  • Thanks for this. This new moon conjuncts my natal 1st house Virgo Venus and the transiting Pluto (in my 6th house) and Saturn/Neptune conjunction (just 5 degrees from my 9th house) for the base of this Yod configuration with apex on my Venus Virgo; the transiting Uranus is in my 10th house squaring that apex. The Sept 7 lunar eclipse is in exact aspect to my Virgo sun and the finishing Sept 21 solar eclipse conjuncts my 2nd house Virgo stellium (Pluto, Mercury, Uranus). So, all of this is making me very anxious.
