On March 20, 11:35 AM —

On March 20, 2026, 3:33 PM EST, Mercury stations direct at 8º29’ of Pisces. Shortly after the Sun’s ingress into Aries and on the Equinox day, the Messenger prepares to resume forward motion. The fog is lifting: this shift invites us to act in alignment with how our way of thinking has changed in the past weeks and helps us put into words experiences, feelings, and emotions that seemed hard to articulate. Moreover, from now until May 6, when Pluto stations retrograde, all planets are direct: this invites forward movement and inspires us to begin new endeavors, experiment, and take risks.

Mercury’s shift of motion is particularly significant for people born with planets or angles in Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces). Their thinking will feel clearer, and the areas of their lives that have felt stalled or confusing will begin to move forward again with greater ease. Ideas and visions that felt formless will begin to take shape, and they will feel drawn to make choices that reflect the way their awareness has shifted during the recent Mercury retrograde period.

Mercury from retrograde to direct: the Fog is Lifting

In Astrology, Mercury governs communication, rational thinking, commerce, short-term and short-distance travel, daily organization, and problem-solving. This planet is associated with how we learn, how we express our thoughts and ideas, how we manage our daily tasks and commitments, and how we relate to our immediate environment. When the ruler of both Gemini and Virgo is in retrograde motion, we have an opportunity to question habitual ways of thinking, communicating, and learning. Mercury retrograde is an invitation to reflect before we speak, refine our ideas, and redefine how we express them.

In Pisces, Mercury favors creative, poetic, and intuitive expression over rigid thinking. The Messenger has been retrograde in the sign since February 26. During this time, we were challenged to take a break from external distractions, be more intentional about the information we take in, and quiet the ongoing mental activity. This retrograde asked us to soften rigid mindsets and attune to the energetic and emotional undercurrents of conversations rather than only focusing on what is being said. In Pisces, Mercury retrograde inspired us to explore non-linear and non-rational channels of communication and expression, complete unfinished projects, and close old chapters.

As Mercury slowly comes to a standstill and prepares to go direct again, the fog begins to lift. What has been refined, redefined, and restructured during the past weeks will begin to take a new shape. In the upcoming days and weeks, the purpose and meaning of the experiences we had during the retrograde will get clearer, and any misunderstandings that occurred can be resolved with greater ease.

Mercury’s upcoming Post-Shadow phase: Integrating Recent Insights

Stationary planets appear to be temporarily standing still from our perspective on Earth. In the past days, Mercury has gradually slowed down its retrograde motion and will gradually begin to gain momentum and move forward again. Until Mercury reaches 22º33’ of Pisces, the degree where the retrograde started, we will be in what is technically known as the post-shadow phase of the recent retrograde.

During this period, a planet travels for the third and last time over the degrees where the retrograde occurred: in the post-shadow phase, insights that arose in the past weeks can be more easily integrated and understood. The invitation for us these days is to build bridges between our inner knowing and our rational mind and get curious about the symbolic meaning of everyday experiences or repeating signs. As Mercury moves through the post-shadow phase, we will find it easier to translate our dreams, inspirations, and sudden realizations into words and actions. This cycle’s post-shadow phase lasts until April 9.

Mercury conjunct the North Node, trine Jupiter & sextile Uranus

The Messenger is stationing direct while conjunct the Lunar North Node in Pisces. The Mercury-North Node conjunction happening at this turning point of Mercury’s journey through the heavens can bring significant conversations, potent synchronicities, and karmic everyday encounters that help us access a new level of awareness or understanding. New information that emerges around this time can have an unexpectedly powerful effect on our path and our way of thinking.

During its remaining time in Pisces, Mercury will trine Jupiter in Cancer and form a sextile with Uranus in Taurus. Mercury and Jupiter already formed two trines to each other, one on February 16, when Mercury was direct and Jupiter retrograde, and one on March 9, when both were retrograde. On April 3, when they are both direct again, Mercury and Jupiter will form their final trine. This series of alignments has facilitated a gradual expansion of our awareness, resulting in a new understanding of reality and a shift in our beliefs. The final Mercury-Jupiter trine helps us gain clarity about the process we have undergone and inspires us to integrate and apply the knowledge we have been gathering.

On April 14, Mercury at 29º24’ of Pisces sextiles Uranus at 29º24’ of Taurus. This sextile, happening on the critical anaretic degree, can bring sudden changes of mind, fuel the emergence of new, innovative ideas, and inspire us to revolutionize our daily lives. The Mercury-Uranus alignment can open the doors for unexpected realizations, creative breakthroughs, and conversations that shift our perspective in a very meaningful and radical way.

Mercury direct in Pisces: Aligning with How our Mindset Shifted

As Aries season begins to unfold and all planets start moving in direct motion, we are entering very dynamic weeks: we will feel like the pace of life is faster than usual, and it will be easier to set something new into motion as new endeavors gain momentum more easily. With Mercury stationing direct in Pisces, new information is likely to come to light, helping us make more informed decisions or see something from a different perspective.

After a period colored by confusion and general feelings of disorientation, as Mercury resumes direct motion, the fog will lift, and we will feel clearer about the deeper meaning of the process we have been through. This is a time to act on the insights and ideas that emerged and to align with how our mindset has shifted during the retrograde. During its remaining time in Pisces, Mercury will continue to ask us to let go of rigid mental frameworks while helping us translate intuitive insights, visions, and ideas into words.
