On November 30, at 4:29 AM ET, a Penumbral Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is taking place at 8°37’ Gemini and inaugurating the second Eclipse season of 2020. The planetary configuration of the moment is highlighting the need to leave the past behind and to find a new sense of direction, yet without forgetting what we have learned so far.

Moreover, after six months of abundant retrograde energy, planets are now all in direct motion, except for Uranus and Chiron. This means it is time to act and move forward. We are encouraged to close a chapter and open a new one: the Cosmos is supporting our movement towards a new paradigm.

To celebrate the arrival of this Penumbral Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, on November 30 at 9:45 PM ET, we are hosting Global Live Penumbral Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Gemini Meditation on our YouTube channel. We invite you to join us, and invite others to meditate together with us. Tap here to find our scheduled live meditation.

Full Moons: Culmination and Clarity

The Full Moon taking place in November is traditionally known as the Beaver Moon or Frost Moon. In the past, around this time of the year, in the Northern Hemisphere, beaver traps were set: their warm fur was essential to go through the winter. This period was also dedicated to honoring the elders and the ancestors: people used to ask them for protection and good fortune for the cold months ahead.

Full Moons happen when Sun and Moon are in opposition to each other, and they always bring an energy of culmination and completion. They represent the blossoming of the entire lunar cycle, and they shine a light on something previously unclear or unconscious. Events and situations often come to a turning point and sudden breakthroughs are common: as we are now experiencing a Lunar Eclipse, this is even more the case.

Eclipses: Cosmic Omens of Radical Change

Since the beginning of time, Eclipses were regarded as omens of radical change. Astrologers and esoteric practitioners believe that Eclipses open an energetic portal that allows insights from our unconscious, or from other dimensions, to emerge into our conscious awareness.

Eclipse Season happens twice a year: the most intense experiences and spiritual transformations tend to take place at this time, during which the pressure to evolve and awaken is magnified. Most astrologers think that the energy of Eclipses can affect us for up until six months: this is how potent these cosmic events can be.

Penumbral Full Moon Lunar Eclipse

Eclipses happen when the Sun and the Moon conjoin or oppose each other on the Lunar Nodes, points in space situated where the apparent path of the Sun crosses the path of the Moon. The effects of these intense alignments tend to be life-changing, and they often trigger unforgettable events and transformations.

The two Lunar Nodes, which are always in opposition to each other, represent our personal and collective evolutionary path: the South Node reflects our karmic past, what we are familiar with, and what we are invited to release, while the North Node represents the new direction we are encouraged to take in order to move towards the future.

Lunar Eclipses: Releasing the Past to Move Forward

Lunar Eclipses are special and potent Full Moons. They happen when the Sun and the Moon oppose each other close to the Nodal Axis. The shadow of Earth, situated in between them, partially or totally blocks the light of the Sun from reaching the Moon.

We are now experiencing a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse, because the Earth, the Sun, and the Moon are not perfectly aligned. For this reason, the Moon’s appearance won’t change significantly and the effect of this configuration won’t be as intense as with a Total Eclipse. The current Full Moon is happening on the Gemini North Node. This means that the culmination of a cycle of growth is propelling us towards our collective evolutionary direction.

During these days, we are likely to witness some sort of release, sudden clarity, moments of revelation, and feelings of completion. Intense emotional waves can allow our feelings to come to a head: the resolution of long-term issues is likely to happen. Moments of crisis can lead us to crucial turning points that have the potential to affect the course of our personal lives as well as the history of the entire humanity.

Lunar Eclipse in Gemini: Honoring Diversity and Individual Differences

The Gemini-Sagittarius polarity is the axis of knowledge. While Gemini, correlated to the left brain, tends to learn through theoretical study, books, and by gathering information and facts, Sagittarius aims to learn from observation and correlation, direct experience, by following one’s inner guidance and right brain.

The conflict and the ongoing search for balance between these two polarities are emphasized on this Full Moon. As the Lunar Eclipse is happening on the Gemini North Node, the invitation is to stay curious, to honor diversity, to embrace individual differences, and respect others’ opinions and ways of thinking. Gemini encourages us to look at an issue from many vantage points, to explore different contexts, situations, ideas, and possibilities.

“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.” —Albert Einstein

The invitation of this Eclipse is to say what you think and to listen to others, yet without losing touch with your feelings and your intuition. Take care of not spiraling down an endless, almost compulsive, search for more information due to the sensation of not knowing enough: trust your guts.

Discerning the Information We Take in & Thinking Critically

During a Full Moon Eclipse in Gemini, our mind tends to be more active, and we are likely to be surrounded by a lot of noise. Avoiding the news and gossip for a couple of days can be a good idea at this time, as it helps us tune into ourselves and reconnect with our inner guidance. Disconnecting from social media for a day or two and spending every day some minutes in complete silence can help us quiet the ongoing stream of thoughts in our minds.

We may notice that, during these days, concentrating is more difficult, and distractions are an ongoing temptation: it can be very easy to lose focus and have the feeling of not being able to get anything significant done. Neptune, stationing direct in Pisces and in a square to the Lunar Nodes, is increasing the general sense of brain fog and the confusion around what is truly happening in the world. For this reason, it is more important than ever to discern what type of information we take in, to discriminate the sources we choose, and to think critically.

Mercury in Scorpio sextile Jupiter and Saturn

Mercury is the planetary ruler of the Eclipse and the North Node in Gemini: its position and the aspects it makes gives us additional information on how the cosmic energies are going to manifest. Mercury is the planet related to how we gather data and information: it correlates to news, social media, all forms of communication and exchange. Mercury is also associated with the way we think, and consequently to how we perceive reality and our surroundings.

In Medical Astrology, Mercury is associated with the nervous system and the current Eclipse may have us feel more tense and restless than usual. For this reason, it’s important to take time to engage in relaxing activities, to consciously deepen and slow down our breath, activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes healing and regeneration on a cellular level.

Mercury’s transit through Scorpio has been longer this year, and its purpose is to invite us to question everything and dive deeper. Even though Mercury is entering Sagittarius tomorrow, the fact that it is still in Scorpio as the Eclipse is taking place represents a clear message. It is an invitation to keep investigating and asking questions before believing in something and accepting it as the absolute truth.

Mercury’s harmonic sextile to Jupiter and Saturn in Capricorn helps us integrate logically and rationally the structural changes that have been taking place, both in the external world and in our inner realms. The Mercury-Saturn sextile supports our communication skills and our ability to organize the information we possess in a coherent way, while the Mercury-Jupiter sextile is supporting the expansion of our mental horizons and our capacity to inspire others through our words.

Lunar Eclipse in Gemini: Reframing the Narrative

This Lunar Eclipse is highlighting the necessity of being connected with our voice, of speaking our truth, of sharing our message with others: however, we should not forget to listen to theirs as well.

A big shadow of the Sagittarius South Node, currently activated by the transiting Sun, is the tendency of trying to convert people to our belief system. The invitation of this Eclipse is to align with our truth and allow others to do the same: respecting others’ opinion even if we disagree with them helps avoid further polarization.

The importance of how we structure our thoughts, and the words we choose to speak is emphasized during the upcoming days: be mindful of your tone, value kindness and tact. Be aware of the energy you add to conversations and of how people react to it: stay curious and open to exchange opinions and perspectives. Let go of assumptions, make sure to listen and not only talk, respect your truth and other people’s truth.

The Penumbral Lunar Eclipse in Gemini is reminding us that we can learn something from everyone and that everyone can be our teacher if we have an open mindset and a non-judgmental attitude. Ultimately, this cosmic event represents an invitation to reframe our narrative, to master our thoughts, and to consciously choose to use words that promote positive change.
